Design to Export Conference
Dutch Designer Max Barenbrug Presents Bugaboo at Design Forum in Iceland.
The Trade Council of Iceland and Iceland Design Center host a design forum at Hilton Nordica in Reykjavik on October 15 from 13 -17 to launch the pilot project Design to Export. The project will bring together manufacturing companies and designers in an effort to increase cooperation and develop new export products.
Keynote speaker is Max Barenbrug, Dutch designer of the renown Bugaboo stroller that has become a hallmark of modern parenthood. Since the appearance of the first Bugaboo in 1999, the company has developed into one of the leading designers of high end strollers and baby carriages in the world. Bugaboo pushchairs are celebrated by modern professionals and Hollywood stars alike. See more on www.bugaboo.com.
The Design to Export project aims to promote the importance of design in production. Participating companies will receive a grant to cover 50% of designer’s wages and will deliver a new prototype in the spring of 2009.
Other presentations include the collaborative projects Vík Prjónsdóttir and 8+8 Made in Hafnarfjörður. Vík Prjónsdóttir is a collaboration between the designers Brynhildur Pálsdóttir, Egill Kalevi Karlsson, Gudfinna Mjöll Magnúsdóttir, Hrafnkell Birgisson, Thurídur Rós Sigurthórsdóttir and the knitwear producer Víkurprjón. see more on http://vikprjonsdottir.com.
8+8 Made in Hafnarfjördur is a collaboration between eight international designers and eight local manufacturers in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. See more on www.icelanddesign.is/english.
